Eduard better known by most as Eddy, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Eddy was born September 20, 1928 in Vorau, Austria. Eddy is predeceased by his wife, Elisabeth, in May 2016. He is survived by his children Walt (Lynn), Chris (Peter), and Ed (Vicki); grandchildren Bryan (Samara), Kendall (Matt), Alyssa, and Rachel. He will be remembered and missed by many other family relatives and friends.
Eddy came to Victoria in 1954 where he met his beloved wife, Elisabeth, of 60 years. He was a carpenter by trade, a loving husband, father, and Opa. Eddy was always full of energy and loved taking daily walks around downtown Victoria. For the past several years, Eddy enjoyed spending his time at the Cook Street Village Activity Centre where he played shuffleboard, ping-pong, and crokinole. Eddy considered his fellow teammates and staff there a second family and will be very much missed by all.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Royal Jubilee Hospital Patient Care Centre who took great care of him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cook Street Village Activity Centre, 380 Cook St #1, Victoria, BC www.cookstreetvillageactivitycentre.com

Judy Procttor Eddy was a special neighbour to my mother, Joyce, who I had the pleasure of meeting several times when visiting my mother. He was a very special gentleman who was liked by all. I have many special memories of my visits with my mother and always seeing Eddy when in Victoria.

Richard Rycraft and Betty Chris and Peter,
I am so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I know in the later years, we didn’t see him as much, and we always enjoyed seeing your parents come in for their dental appointments. I always thought that they were such a sweet and endearing couple who endured many challenges in life, and made many sacrifices for their family. Your father’s smile is what I remember most and his love for his family. You have the same smile, Chris. Take Care.

Lyle & Dorothy Gillespie We are so sorry for the loss of this wonderful intelligent man, Eddie Gschiel. We have enjoyed many happy moments with him over the past 27 years and we will miss him very much. Not only was Eddie the proud father of Ed, Chris & Walt and a loving Opa to his 4 grandchildren, a devoted Caregiver for his late wife Elizabeth, he was a friend to everyone he met.
