Edie was born in Grand Prairie, Alberta, on May 10, 1953 as the youngest of 7 siblings. Her family later moved to Sooke, British Columbia, where she spent her teen years welding on her days off from school.

After graduating from high school she made the big move down to Victoria where she held numerous positions within the BC government and the Royal BC Museum. But her favourite job was being a mother and grandmother.

As Edie would like to phrase it, she was given the “gift of gab” and would never pass up the opportunity to talk to someone. She enriched so many people’s lives by simply stopping to check in on them or offering an encouraging word of support.

Her passions included her drawings and art, which she was so talented in, and her sewing where her pieces have been features in many local markets and she was so proud of.
During the pandemic, she always tried to remain positive and was grateful for the extra time she got to spend with her family, learning new recipes and trying to find every little library in Oak Bay.

Edie leaves behind two daughters, Kelly and Michelle (Shawn). A grandson Archer, and a new grandbaby on the way which she was so excited about. She is also survived by brother Barry, sister’s Betty-Ann and Mona, sister-in-law Linda, and countless friends especially her best friend Ruth Dyck.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing unit on 3 South at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. With special appreciation to nurses Courtney, Frankie, Sheryl and Mike. Your care and kindness in our mom’s final hours were so appreciated and made the most difficult day a little bit easier.

We will love and miss you forever, Mom.

My condolences to the family, such sad news. We had a lot of fun together back in the day. Easter egg hunts and your visits to our cabin and our hobby farm. She was a sweet lady.
