Dianne passed away peacefully at Broadmead Care Veterans Memorial Lodge on February 09, 2023. She was born in Toronto on March 13, 1944. Dianne is survived by her husband John, daughter Lisa, and sister Kathy (Pedro), brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Dianne came with her husband John to Victoria in 1968 to help work with young people where she was deeply loved. Her daughter, Lisa, was always a main focus of her life. She worked as a Coordinator of Volunteers in a seniors’ centre for many years. She was a dancer, a painter, and an avid gardener. She approached everything she did and everyone she met with love and enthusiasm. She faced all difficulties with determination and a deep belief in God.

Her family would especially like to thank all the staff at Broadmead Care for their care of her and their many kindnesses.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph The Worker parish, 753 Burnside Rd. West, Victoria BC followed by internment at Royal Oak Burial Park.

Sending our heart felt condolences Mr Durkin, Lisa and family. We have fond memories of growing up on Montcalm with moms chatting having coffee / Tea , kids playing and causing a ruckus, lots giggles and sleep overs. Mrs Durkin always had a kind smile and a wave hello. I always made a point of chatting with Mr and Mrs Durkin when I seen them on the street when I visited my dad. Sending you all a big hug!

Bob and I send our sincere sympathy to you and your daughter, Lisa, in the passing of Dianne. She
was a wonderful person, caring, kind, and loving. She had a great sense of humour and interesting
topics of discussion. Will remember her gardening tips. She would often have little stickers or little books for our two granddaughters. They thought this was special. We missed both you and her at service when she no longer was able to attend. We also remember the times we took Dianne shopping. She gave us many, many laughs. I remember attending service in your home. You both made me welcome arriving in Victoria in 2005. Dianne will now be at peace. Our thoughts are with you and Lisa as you adjust to this new way of life.

Dianne was a wonderful and kind to our family, living next door on Montcalm Ave. She always greeted our children warmly and took time to prepare special treats for them. We enjoyed knowing her very much and will miss her as a bright spot here on Montcalm Ave.

As she turned in the pew ahead of us, Dianne asked, “Are you free to join John and me after mass for a Chinese supper?”. And that was how we met Dianne.
Dianne’s interest in and compassion for others became evident and this, along with the acceptance of her own physical limitations, were indicative of her cheerful, positive outlook and her deep and abiding faith.
We send our sincere sympathy to her caring and devoted husband, John, and their much-loved daughter, Lisa.
May you rest in peace, Dianne.

I have known John and Diane for over 50 years. They are a model of the sacrament of marriage: faithful, loving, supportive and devoted.
John’s life will change. Diane is still with him, but I pray he will do all the things, like travel, that had to be postponed. Diane would want it. A new beginning with new opportunities

Dianne was an unforgettable person. She had a dynamic personality; this is what remains in our minds after all these years. Everything she did was done beautifully. She was always concerned about others. Her spiritual life got her through these many difficult years as well as such loving care by John and Lisa.
God bless you, Dianne, in your new life and John, Lisa & family in this next chapter of your lives.
