My soulmate has flown away, far, far, from my view.
But all the things we did together, I can still feel and see that it’s you.
Hold on for a while and visit with your pets, family and friends.
My time is not done here, but when it is, I’ll be there to hold you when it
ends.
Dianne passed away peacefully early Friday morning at home, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Coleman Alberta to Neil and Margaret Fleming and moved to Victoria at the age of six. Dianne is predeceased by her sister Catherine and her brothers Bob and Jack.
Dianne was married on November 19, 1966 at the age of 19 to her first Husband Malcolm Russell and had two girls, Debbie Russell (Dale) and Michelle (Chris) Cataneo. She gained two more girls, Tracy (Gord) Oliver and Shannon Riess (Dan) when she married John Ozard on July 10, 1982. She will miss her seven grandchildren- Brodie, Jordan, Desirae, Madison, Carson, Ella and Emily. Dianne leaves her best friend, lover and soulmate John who enjoyed 45 wonderful years with her.
Dianne attended Sir James Douglas Elementary School and graduated from Victoria High. She started full time work at B.C. Motor Vehicle Branch, then moved onto B.C. Medical, Department of Finance and Consumer Taxation (Supervisor 15 years) before retiring in November 2002. After retirement she enjoyed going South for the winter months to Palm Springs and summers in BC in their Beaver Motorhome with other family and friends for many years. She also cherished her cats (Soda and Kitty) and loved to take daily walks with John and their fuzzy children Maggie (his) and Zoe (hers). She looked forward to Tuesday movie nights with family and friends, but chicken foot (game)and potluck dinners were her faves.
Our thoughts go out to our compassionate children and family members who assisted John in his care for Dianne for many years. Dianne will clearly be missed by all the lives she has touched with her great smile and humour and will be in our hearts forever!
Our Family wishes to thank her family Doctors David Bell, Sarah Chritchley and the Geriatric Speciality Services Scott Blair, Dr Merunka Mordasiewicz and Valerie Mains.
In lieu of flowers Please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a Charity of your choice.
A Celebration of life was held on Monday, July 17, at 2:00 pm, in the Sequoia Centre, at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.

Lorraine Brown Dear John and extended family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on Diane’s passing. I will forever have fond memories of her bubbly personality and her infectious smile. In years long past, she was so welcoming and “the life of the party” at many family get togethers that I was fortunate enough to attend. She will always be remembered.
