Diana (alias Lady Di, Lucky) was born on August 14, 1917 in Duncan. After finishing high school, Di moved to Victoria and completed her nurses training at her much cared for Royal Jubilee Hospital, graduating in 1942. She spent her whole working life there as a highly respected Nurse, looking after polio patients in iron lungs and neuro patients with head and back injuries. She and husband Ray were active members of the Sidney Legion where she enjoyed crib night, meat draws and a glass of beer. Di, until recently, enjoyed sunning in her bikini and dancing in those tall spikes. After a fall, she was back to the Jubilee where she passed away on October 14, 2008. Di was predeceased by her husband, Ray Hayes. She is survived by her daughter, Nonie Goldsmith (Oliver); grandchildren, Tom Goldsmith (Lynn), Gina Mazar (Brian); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Nathan, Kevin, Eric and Nicki (Chris); great-great-grandchildren, Parker and Presley. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Russell for his care and concern over the years. They also would like to thank Dr. M. Bater and the entire staff of 3West.

A Celebration of Diana’s full life will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the Sidney Legion on Mills Road. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the charity of your choice.
