It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of David William Falconer on August 16, 2024.
Born on November 14, 1951, in Victoria, BC, to Robert and Margaret Falconer. Predeceased by his parents and survived by his loving wife, Corrine, son Ryan (Breeana), sister Linda Nickel (Kelowna, BC), niece Naomi (Geoff), nephew Tj (Michelle), great niece Reagan and nephews Ayden and Austin. Also survived by the Anderson Family – Carl (Glenda), Ian (Wendy), Roy (Debbie), Kent (Kathy), Lisa (Gavin), numerous nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends. Loved so much by all of us.
Dave grew up as a proud James Bay boy (born and raised) and maintained many friendships throughout his life. Super proud of the friendships he formed in his childhood. He would occasionally attend the Legion or the James Bay reunions, where the stories told were full of laughs and wonderful memories.
Dave went on to working in the Plating Shop at the Dockyard for the Department of National Defense for 35 years. He enjoyed the friendships that were created here, even after retirement. He retired 12 years ago.
Dave was a caring and loving man who genuinely cared about others. He was such a proud father and cherished his time with Ryan (the “Boy”). Always involved in all of Ryan’s sports, Dave was often seen around the hockey rink and baseball field. He enjoyed chatting with Ryan’s buddies, always catching up and talking sports. Many beautiful friendships were created with all the sports families, whom we still enjoy seeing.
Dave held a close bond with his sister Linda and her family. He was affectionately known to them as Uncle “D”. Many trips were made to or from Kelowna visiting one another, creating lasting memories to be held close in our hearts.
Dave’s passion for sports continued with his love for the Seattle Seahawks, watching them every weekend and travelling to games in Seattle often. Dave’s favourite baseball teams included the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs.
Dave loved to travel, and we had numerous adventures around the world. Land tours, river cruising, All Inclusive resorts and ocean cruises. Cruises were a favourite with our close friends and family. Dave enjoyed camping with his family and friends during the summer months. Dave’s hobbies throughout life and into retirement included many hours in his shop. He enjoyed puttering and making an assortment of wood working which included small jobs for friends and family. He made beautiful planter boxes and his most recent were his animal planter boxes. When not woodworking, Dave enjoyed being on the golf course.
Finally, Dave was a loving husband and best friend to his wife, Corrine (Coco). We knew early on that we were meant for each other. Together we created a life that has been so full of love, family, friends (too many to mention), and abundance of happiness shared with others. Would not change a thing.
Thank you to everyone for all your cards, flowers, meals, baking, messages, phone calls, condolences, love and support. It has meant so much to us during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chief and PO’s Mess, 1575 Lyall Street in Esquimalt, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 12:00 pm.
Forever in our hearts. We love you.

Dave was such a good man. I have fond memories of Dave at the hockey rink during our professional minor sport spectator phase of life. Many holiday weekends were spent together with our hockey family and you could always count on Dave for his friendly warm demeanour. Sadly missed, gone too soon. Thinking of you all – The Smiths

Ron and Fran Yardley So sorry to hear of Dave´s passing. Fond memories of road trips to Seattle to watch our beloved Sea Hawks ( season tickets no less ), and having him as a friend and teammate on our Fastball Team. If throws to first base were catchable, Dave got them. So good of him to stand up for me, at Fran & I´s wedding, 42+ years ago. A special, “gentle giant”, humble, an amazing and supportive teammate and all around great person. You will be missed by all that knew you.
Condolences to the family.

Lisa So beautifully written. It definitely captures Dave personality and heart!
Very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I have fond memories of David from when we worked together at the Electroplating Shop. Dave was a character, steadfast in his ways, which meant Dave and I did not always see eye-to-eye, but he ultimately proved to be respectful and forthright. And for that he earned my respect. I am unable to attend his celebration as I will be away from Victoria that date. I feel for David’s family and I wish them smooth sailing through this sad and challenging time.
