Born May 14, 1954 in Kamloops, BC. Kelly passed away suddenly due to complications from cancer despite the valiant efforts of doctors and nurses at Victoria General Hospital on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in Victoria, BC.
Kelly is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Myrtle; his brother, Gerald and his nephew, John Alexander Heron.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Jenny) and John (Magdalin); nieces, Lisa (Dave Hyndman), Sandra (Chris) Edwards, Samantha Heron, Vanessa Heron; nephew, Peter Heron; grandnieces, Claire Hyndman, Katherine and Sarah Edwards; grandnephew, Hugh Hyndman, and sister-in-law, Maria Heron.
Kelly was always an independent person and extremely well-read. His hobbies included space technology, astronomy, photography, piano, model making and family ancestral history. He is a descendant of the McFarlane, Cliffe, McKenzie and Hawkins pioneer families of the Comox Valley. He enjoyed the ocean as a keen fisherman and was looking forward to cycling as a new hobby in his retirement.
Although no family or partner of his own, Kelly’s joy came from his nephews, nieces, grandnephew and grandnieces. He was their quirky and likeable uncle and they adored him for it.
Kelly enjoyed a full career at Telus Corp (ie: major shareholder). He was liked by many co-workers whom he appreciated frequent reunions with in his retirement.
At Kelly’s request, no Service or Celebration of Life is planned. He asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to the BC Cancer Agency.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Wayne and Verna Lemky So many tragedies in such a short time. Please know we are thinking of you and your families and sending hugs and healing your way.
Kelly was a neighbor, on Mapleton Place, for many years. He had always been a man of few words, but was always pleasant and always had a smile for you. It took many tries, but thanks to another neighbor, we finally got him to join in our annual Block BBQ. He even made his own corn bread last year for all to enjoy. Just wish this would have happened years ago, giving us all a chance to know him better. R.I.P. Kelly.
