DUNLAP – Air Marshal Clarence R. (Larry) CBE, C.D., B.Sc, D.C.L., D. ENG.,

Born January 1, 1908 in Sydney Mines, N.S. Passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC, Oct. 20, 2003 at age 95 after a long and distinguished career in the R.C.A.F. Survived by his loving wife, Hester (happily married for 68 years); son, David; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; sister-in-law,Edith;

grandsons, James and Charles; granddaughters, Hester and Allison. Joined R.C.A.F. in 1929 and rose from Pilot Officer to Air Marshal and Chief of the R.C.A.F. During this time he served as a Deputy Chief-of-Staff at S.H.A.P.E., Paris, France. In 1964 he was appointed Deputy

Commander-in-Chief North American Air Defence (NORAD), Colorado Springs, Colorado. Retiring in 1968, he devoted the next 11 years helping establish the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa. In 2002, he was inducted into Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame. Dearly loved and highly respected, he is sadly missed by all.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., October 24, 2003 at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, 1701 Elgin Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society BC & Yukon division, 565 West 10th
