Christopher Gordon Schwede left this world on August 18, 2022 in Victoria, BC. Second born of four children on October 28, 1972 in Terrace, BC.  Chris leaves behind his parents Sharon (Ray) Logan and Fred (Evelyn) Schwede, brother Shayne (Emily), sister Tammy and his Irish twin, Candice (Marcus).  Chris will also be missed by his daughter Olivia, and her mom, Erica, as well as many nieces including Shaelee, Lacey, Viella, and Kayla and adoring nephews, Noah and Khristian.

Chris worked hard to earn his Red Seal Journeymen Electricians status as an adult. As a child he gained his claim to fame by narrowly missing being cast as the toddler version of Superman.

If you were a friend of Chris’, you felt like a brother, a sister, or a cousin.  If you were in his immediate family, Chris left no room for doubt, family was his everything.  Chris was enchanting, protective, deeply loving and sensitive to all that life brought.  He was so funny and loved to tease, flashing his dimples and brilliant eyes. He will be missed far and wide.

“And sometimes I despair the world will never see another man, like him” (Superman’s Song -Crash Test Dummies).

A Memorial Service and Reception for Chris was held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens on Friday, September 16, 2022.  All were invited to commune, share stories and memories of Chris at a bbq at Candice’s home afterwards.

I will always remember Chris the last time I saw him, it was at mom and dad’s and we played games in the yard the entire day. We laughed the entire time, he had a great infectious laugh and a smile that lit up the room. Good memory to hold on to. I’m so sorry he’s gone.

When I was a kid, my dear friend , Sharon., took me into her loving home, no questions asked. She saved my life. I had the best time being a member of their family.

I remember Chris, as as child, so curious, always into everything, but that impish smile. I will never forget Sharon telling me the story about Chris and his unexplained bad breath, at age 5. Sharon tried to source the cause. Turns out Chris had shoved a pencil eraser up his nose., maybe a year earlier. No one knew. I can still hear his cute stuffy nasal voice. Sharon, your pain will never subside but I pray for some comfort. Love you

What a beautiful tribute to Chris. Losing a son and sibling is so horrible, and I’m so sorry you are all going through this. My sincere sympathies to all of you.
