Charles passed away peacefully in Royal Jubilee Hospital on January 1, 2006. He was born in Victoria, B.C., on October 2, 1916. Charles was an all-round student and athlete who trained as a runner under Archie McKinnon at the YMCA. After World War II service, he returned to work as an insurance adjuster in Victoria and later in New Westminster. For many years he enjoyed excellent health and the outdoors, never ceasing to marvel at the beauty of Victoria.
In 1948 he married the love of his life Marjorie (McKenzie) and proudly raised four sons. Charles was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather -always patient, loving and good humoured. As a boy he spent many summers at Shawnigan Lake and later with his young family created a summer retreat still enjoyed by the family.
Charles is survived by his wife, sons David (Susan) of Burnaby, Richard (Betty) of Victoria, Murray, Gary (Cory) and adored granddaughters Michelle and Tara of New Westminster, sister Helene Stevens of Victoria and brother Frederick (Rick) Stevens of Vancouver.
A private Service of Remembrance will be conducted at MCCALL BROS. FAMILY CHAPEL on Friday, January 20, 2006 followed by a reception in the Family Centre.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation, the Alzheimer Society of Canada or other worthy charity of your choice.
