It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carole Krueckl, January 2022 at the age of 86 years. She was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, and at a time when long-distance travel was not common, she boarded a boat with nursing friends and arrived in Montreal in 1966. After nursing in Hamilton, she found a job in Saskatchewan where she met a young dashing Engineer, Robert Krueckl, and settled down to raise a family.
As a nurse, Carole was passionate about health and caring for others. She had a wealth of knowledge! Friends and family can attest she was always ready with advice and information and if she didn’t know how to cure what ails you, she would find out, whether you wanted her to or not.
Carole was the friend who reached out with a phone call to ask what was going on in your life, ask you to meet for coffee or go for a walk. Her caring spirit was evident in her devotion to her family. She was the first one up every morning to prepare a nutritious breakfast for her family and at the end of the day, she was wrapping her daughters’ pyjamas around a hot water bottle before bed so they didn’t feel a chill on cold winter nights.
Throughout her married life, Carole was a partner to her husband Bob in building, decorating and renovating homes in Saskatchewan and in running an ice cream business. After over 20 years of life on the prairies, she moved with her family to Victoria, BC where she took up a new passion for hiking. Carole was a member of the Cordova Bay Hikers for 30 years and hiked throughout the pacific coast of BC, Washington, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro.
Her friends and family will miss her caring nature, her commitment to wellness, her beautiful smile, and her sparkling Irish eyes.
She will be sadly missed by her brother Leo Johnston (Joan) and sister-in-law June of Northern Ireland along with friends and family there and in Canada. Carole was predeceased by her brother Brian Johnston (2021).
A Memorial Service for Carole was held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 am. A recording of the service may be viewed by clicking the image below.

Michelle Patzer Dearest Bob, Sandra, Jennifer and family,
Curtis and I want to send you our sincerest condolences.
Carole was a beautiful woman inside and out. Here hair and skin were glorious and I can attest to her wise caring and healing nature.
I think of her every time I make almond milk, or hear the word chlorophyll to this day. She was ahead of her time with knowledge of natural health.
You are her glowing and radiant legacy in every way.
Our prayers will be that you will find comfort and be held through this period of loss.In Jesus,
Curtis and Michelle Patze

Bev Ball Dear Bob and Family:
I only met Carole once or twice but I know how dearly she was loved. Bob would affectionately refer to her as, “She who must be obeyed.” Bob often spoke of her and her gardening….I’m of course going back several years when Bob was still working as a Realtor. I’m sincerely sorry for your loss. I know memories will bring you great comfort. Big hugs Bob.
