  • Anna-Maria Laughlin

Anna-Maria Laughlin and Maria Bown (deceased)

Carol was our family doctor for many years. She was an amazing doctor and extremely kind and caring. As my mother’s condition deteriorated over the years, Carol was our rock. My mother’s end of life care was the best it could be, thanks to Carol and her referral to an amazing Palliative Care team. She was a great doctor and always quick to diagnose and treat (or refer) if needed. I often wonder if I would still be here, if it wasn’t for her. She picked up on symptoms I never noticed (even though I am a nurse). My thoughts are with Carol’s family, friends and colleagues. I know she has been missed by all her previous patients since she had to leave her practice. She will be fondly remembered.

  • Gail BLAIS

I was sad to hear of the death of Carol. I only knew her as one of her patients and as I’m a nurse.
I always found her to be professional, never rushed, and caring. I remember, when I was working in Home and Community, overhearing a young nurse phoning a doctor and saying after how much she appreciated phoning that particular doctor because they understood that sometimes she needed some time to do explanations, as she was new. I guessed that it was Doctor Jenken that she had been speaking with, and I was correct.
Anytime I met up with her at a conference or even just around the hospital, she was always friendly and seemed to value what others had to say.
    My condolences to her family.

I am so sorry to read of Dr. Jenken’s passing. She was a very kind and caring physician to me and I had so much respect for her. I was just thinking about her the other day, wondering how she was doing. I was sad to lose her as my doctor, but even more sad for her family and friends. She was a wonderful person.

  • Liz Emmerzael (Yuill)

Lorne and family, Judith, Evelyn, Daryl, Bill and families.
I am so sorry to hear of Carol’s passing from cancer. I lost my husband Bill to cancer as well in Nov. of 2020 so I have an idea of the tough times you have been through. Bill and Carol’s brother Don were in the same graduating class, Judith and I were also in the same class and Evelyn and my sister Jean were good friends, also in the same class. Barrhead was a small town and the Jenken family and Yuill family were good friends. I remember Carol well and she was always such a nice person. I saw her last when she was visiting Lorne’s Mom who had recently moved into Rutherford Assisted Living in Edmonton where my Mom Anne Yuill was also living. Thinking of you all and praying for you at this very sad time.

  • Jean Yuill

My condolences to your whole family. Carol will be dearly missed by all.
    Love Jeannie Yuill (Barrhead)
