We are sad to share that Cam passed away suddenly from complications of lifelong diabetes. He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Stacy Johnson and sister Stephanie Johnson.

Cam spent his happy childhood in Winnipeg. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, playing with his cat, riding his bike and managing his paper route.  It was this job that developed his interest in exceptional customer service, and also showcased the work ethic that has followed him through his career.

At 18, Cam began his career in the electrical wholesale industry, as a shipper/receiver at Nedco in Winnipeg. After spending Christmas 1992 with family in Victoria, he decided that he wanted to make Victoria his home. It took a few years, but at the age of 25 he transferred to Nedco Terrace, as Operations Manager. With Victoria life as his goal, he then worked with E.B. Horsman in Duncan, before arriving at Westburne in Victoria. For over a decade, Cam enjoyed working with and learning from his Westburne colleagues. While there, he had the opportunity to make many lasting friendships and connections in the industry. In 2008 Cam was presented with the opportunity to manage the creation and opening of the first Island branch of Torbram Electric; he thrived on this challenge. Later he moved on to Bartle & Gibson, then returned to Westburne for several years. Currently, Cam was enjoying providing quotations at Symmetry Lighting.

Cam loved cooking and creating original spice combinations and recipes. He was eager to experiment with almost any ingredient. Cam always appreciated good food prepared well. Cam nurtured his friendships, maintaining contact with friends dating back to childhood. Some of his best times were spent hanging out with friends. Cam will be remembered for his positivity and sense of humour.

In 2007, Cam realized a long-time dream of owning a Corvette, and shortly after, joined the Victoria Corvette Club. He made many good friends and enjoyed day trips, Saturday nights at Ogden Point, and several trips to Quad-C weekends in Kelowna. He volunteered for a number of years as club president and was actively involved in organizing and running Autocross events.

In 2011 Cam gratefully received a kidney transplant from his sister Stephanie. He then began volunteering with the Kidney Foundation, becoming a board member of the Victoria branch. He was generous with his time, participating in and helping to organize a variety of fundraising and educational events, including sharing his own transplant story with potential donors and recipients.

The family is so grateful, as was Cam, for the excellent medical care he received over the years. We particularly wish to thank Dr. Miller, Dr. Horgan, and the teams at the RJH Kidney Care and Transplant Clinics.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Dr, on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm, with a reception to follow. All are welcome. Those unable to attend in person can attend virtually via zoom.

I am devastated. There was a season in my life when Cam was my best, best of friends. We worked together, we loved the same things together, we enjoyed the same music, and we cried together when we lost our friend Doug. I can’t express how grieved I am at the loss of my brother and friend, Cam. My condolences.

My wife Barb and I are very saddened at the passing of our friend Cam. Cam was a fine example of positiveness. Although he met many medical challenges throughout his life he met them head on and remained his positive and cheerful self. They did not define his life but where a mere inconvenience to him as he carried on enjoying life.
As a member of the Corvette club he met many people from all walks of life and as our club president for most of the last dozen years or more he was well respected, admired by us all and will be dearly missed.
Cam and I drove together on several Corvette road trips and he enjoyed his car, his many friends and the experience to the fullest.
We can all learn a lot from Cam in how to stay positive and approach life..

It was my pleasure to have known Cam not only through the Electrical Industry but the Victoria Corvette Club. I sat on the club Executive with Cam as Vice-President and Secretary several times when he was President. Cam always volunteered for any event in our club and never complained about his health or struggles. He was an inspiration to us all and his presence will be sadly missed.

I am so sad to hear of the sudden passing of Cam. Although I never met him, I felt I understood his zest for life and positive attitude no matter what challenges, health wise, life threw at him. Stacy and I have shared many hours discussing all the health issues Cameron faced and I have tried to support and champion her on all his endeavors. As a mother of a son, close in age, it is particularly difficult to learn of a parent outliving their child. This wound might never heal. It is my hope that his parents will live on remembering all the wonderful moments they all have shared as a family. Cameron was lucky to be born into such a loving and supportive family, that gave him the strength he needed to live his best life, for as long as he did. Rest In peace Cameron, your struggles are over.
