It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loved one, Barry Arthur Pass, after a lengthy illness and brave battle with heart disease and diabetes. He was courageous, positive and upbeat until the very end and died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Barry was born and raised in Victoria and loved to entertain people with his many fascinating and fun stories about his adventures growing up. He was smart, quick-witted and had a terrific sense of humour. He owned his own commercial painting business for over 40 years and was well known and loved in the community. In his later years, he enjoyed going to the mall and people watching, going out for dinner with Gloria, getting together with his family during the holidays and special occasions, and loved listening to music, especially at the Annual Thanksgiving Bluegrass Jams at Bonney and Eric’s house. He was an avid reader, played the organ, enjoyed fishing and the outdoors when he was young.
Barry is survived by his loving partner of 17 years, Gloria (Archer), his son Rick (Tracey), his daughter Tina (Justin) and all his wonderful grandchildren that he loved and adored. He is also survived by his brother Norman (Jean), sister Louise, and his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his friends and extended family, especially Bonney and Eric and children. Barry is predeceased by his dad, Arthur Pass, his mom, Honey (Burkmar) and his nephew, Dennis Pass.
A Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Thursday, October 25 at 10:00am, followed by a luncheon from 11:00am – 12:00pm and interment at 12:30pm at Hatley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 24 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm.
Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice, is much appreciated.
Special thanks to Dr. Gantz and Dr. Cheek for their kindness and special care during the end of Barry’s journey. Also, thank you to the Nursing Staff and Health Care Aids, especially Vicente at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
