Barbara passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital after a courageous battle with dementia.

Born on November 24, 1948, in Stockport, England, Barbara was the only child of Gilbert and Lizzie Glenn. Barbara attended Cale Green Primary and Marple Hall School in Stockport. After an early career in healthcare, Barbara immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1973. Barbara married Cor in Richmond in 1978 and they moved to Aldergrove shortly after. In 1984, they moved to Vancouver Island with their three children, spending six years in Campbell River before they settled in Victoria, their home for more than three decades.

A lifelong learner, Barbara was proud to attain her Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University. An avid volunteer and lover of arts, she spent countless hours at local theatres, and was proud to be a long-time volunteer and Executive Director for the Victoria Gilbert & Sullivan Society. Barbara loved to travel, returning to England and the beaches of Jersey often. Strong and determined, Barbara wanted so much out of life – for both herself and those she loved. She was known for her contagious laughter, and her love for animals and children.

Wife to Cor (deceased); Mom to Rachel, Ruth (Anton), and Jon (Katie); and Grandma to Elle and Jakob. Barbara will be missed by those fortunate to have had her in their life. She will rest in Royal Oak Burial Park with Cor. A Celebration of Life will take place in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Barbara’s favourite charity, Operation Smile. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful nurses, doctors and healthcare attendants on the fifth and fourth floors of the Patient Care Centre at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
