It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Baldev Kaur Dodd on Dec 1, 2021 at the age of 82.

Predeceased by her husband Sarwan (2002) and son Jagvir (2020), she will be dearly missed by many.  She leaves behind her daughters Daisy (Lakhvir) and Rosie and her daughter-in-law Ravinder.  She adored, loved and lived for her grandchildren – Vikram, Sameer, Jeevan and Rajan.  For those of you who knew her well, family meant everything to her and she was blessed with loving siblings and many treasured friends.

Born in India in 1939, Baldev moved to England in 1968 which was the beginning of many moves including Canada, India and back to Canada.  In her recent years, when she wasn’t looking after her family, she enjoyed spending time at the Seniors Centre at the Sikh Gurdwara (you often found her busy knitting blankets for various charitable events) and at Juan de Fuca Rec Centre with the other Aunties doing water aerobics.

Wherever she was, she touched many lives with her warmth and generosity – she somehow had a way of making everyone feel loved and cared for.  She was as strong and independent as anyone could possibly be, living her life with grace and dignity.  Blessed by a selfless character, Baldev always put others ahead of herself, doing whatever she  could to help someone in need.  She will be remembered for her radiant smile, her infectious laugh, her mischievous sense of humour and her irrepressible spirit.

She was the most special mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed so very, very much.

We want to thank the excellent staff at BC Cancer Agency and VGH, particularly the sixth floor Acute Care staff, who treated her with such compassion and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BC Cancer Agency in her name.  (https://bccancerfoundation.com/ways-to-give/)

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held on Friday, Dec 10, 2021 at 10 am at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC followed by a service and lunch at the Sikh Gurdwara (1210 Topaz Avenue, Victoria BC).

Our sincerest condolences to the entire extended Dodd family on the passing of Bhanji. As we expressed to Iqbal, Bhanji was a wonderful woman with a very kind heart and that heart shone through when she greeted all with her caring smile and warm hug. Every time we would meet she would ask about every family member to ensure all were fine. A very large loss … sorry we could not be there to express our condolences in person but we are out of the country. Bhanji will be greatly missed … warm hugs to all of the family! Nirmal and Rani Parmar

We met Baldev ji, Sarwan Ji, Jagvir, Daisy and Rosie in March 1970 just after the arrival of Rani from India. Baldev ji immediately took us under her wings and she was our mentor. As Dodd family moved to Victoria in July of the same year, this brief companionship turned into life long friendship. A friendship full of love, compassion, respect and ever lasting family bond. Rani feels very fortunate to have a word with Baldev ji before she left all of us. Pain is a too small word to describe our feelings.

May Wahe Gruji bless her soul and bestow peace upon all of us.

Beautiful words to describe Aunty. “She will be remembered for her radiant smile, her infectious laugh, her mischievous sense of humour and her irrepressible spirit.” I am sending you all lots of love as you embrace Aunty’s transition. And, thanks for sharing the gift of you and all your love Auntyji. Blessings.
