Arlene was born in the backseat of a Pink Cadillac on the corner of Kingsway and Joyce Road in Vancouver BC, and she will forever be remembered as a giving and loving spirit who cherished her family and friends.
As is life, her giving nature continues in her passing, and her status as an organ donor has saved three lives and helped countless others.
Arlene grew up in Victoria and was always surrounded by many friends. She was a fun loving person with an outgoing personality and a cheerful spirit. She enjoyed baking, quilting, gardening, going for long walks and was known for her many hours on the telephone staying connected with those she held dear.
Arlene is predeceased by her dad, Richard Carson, stepdad Jim Gray and brother-in-law Mark Parsons. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Murray Thomas, her mom Mary Joan Gray, sister Louanne Parsons (Sunshine & Misty (Pam)), brother Rick (Val) Carson, sister Colleen (Steve) Brent and Jennifer Coultas. She also leaves behind step-children Tammy (Ted) Austin and Mike (Cheryl) Thomas and grandchildren, Katelynn, Emma, Dayton and Cooper. Her great nieces and nephews, Paige, Jayden, Hannah, Linden also survive her, along with too many friends to list, whom Arlene considered and treated like family.
Arlene will always be in our hearts and will be fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you take the time with your family to register as organ donors.
A Celebration on Life will be held at the Royal Colwood Golf Club on Sunday, November 5th at 1:00 p.m.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Murray we are all here for you should you call upon us, we love you so much Murray.
The Memorial Arena was different that any other city workplace, it was family. In many ways it transcended work to be like a relationship amongst us all. We lived and loved one another. We were so lucky to have each other. We were always together and always will be together!

Barb Lehoux I am utterly devastated by Arlene’s passing. She was one of the most thoughtful people I’ve ever met and she touched so many lives of those around her. She was so welcoming to me when I started at Memorial Arena. She was “Real”. She had a gift of making people feel at ease and I will miss her phone calls and I will forever miss her. Murray, no words can ever express the sympathy and empathy we feel for you at this time. Arlene was loved by so many. I am sending my deepest, deepest condolences for the passing of Arlene. There are no words that can fully convey how sorry I am. I know her and Max are together looking down. Have a beer ready for me when its my time to join you both. Maybe a couple of slot machines as well. RIP my amazing and wonderful Friend. Love your Friend Always, Barb

Lori A beautiful soul, RIP Arlene
I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes
Another day comes when I have to say my goodbyes
I can hear your voice
I remember your smile
I think I’ll just sit here
And treasure that memory awhile..
Your phone calls were uplifting we reminisced of the past
We laughed at it all, my God what a blast
We talked about friends and all the memories we keep
Thoughts for each other and how our love runs deep
My friend how I’ll be missing the thought you’re not here,
But I know in my heart you’ll always be near.

Dear Colleen and Family~
I am so sorry to hear of Arlene’s passing. I remember her friendly personality from high school and years later when running into her at the Memorial Arena. I hope she and my MG are reminiscing up there in Heaven. Michael would speak fondly of you gals from back in his early days of teaching at Tillicum. Both gone far too soon. My deepest condolences to all of you.
