It is with the deepest sadness we announce the sudden passing of Angie on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Victoria General Hospital. She was born on September 23, 1948 in Avondale, NF.

Angie was predeceased by her husband Fred Mair in 2006. She is survived by her son Shawn Mair (Lisa), precious grandchildren Bennett and Emelyn; sisters Madeline, Regina, Teresa and Assumptia; brothers John and Tim, brother-in-law Dave, sister-in-law Betty, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I believe that God injected a little extra “fun” into people born in Newfoundland and Angie was no exception. I loved the story about how Angie first met Fred when he dropped in for coffee, and how those coffee get-togethers evolved into a love story that was so beneficial to each of them. Angie and Fred were totally dedicated to their son, Shawn, and it was such a pleasure to know their whole family. Sincere condolences to Shawn, Lisa, Bennet, Emelyn, and to all of Angie’s Newfoundland family. Angie will be fondly remembered by us all.

  • Ashleigh Tassell

Shawn, we are so sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. She was the best hockey mom out there! She always supported the Powell river kings buying tickets galore and even won a grocery basket full of groceries at one of your games in the intermission, but then was very embarrassed by Albert Antle yelling “ get the bag lady off the ice” and we all laughed at the joke! You were very lucky to have such a wonderful mother and I know you will miss her forever. I’m sure she enjoyed being a grandmother to your children just as much as we are enjoying Megan’s daughter Julia and Lisa’s daughter Natalie. Our sympathies for your loss ,,,Kathleen and Chicky

Dearest Angie – so many people will have lost their bright light. Angie’s love and dedication to her family and many friends was continually shown in her kindness and compassion for everyone – she made the grass seem greener and the light so much brighter. And never forget her loyalty and humour. I feel so fortunate that I was able to travel so much of life’s journey with Angie on the same road. Sincere condolences to all of the family – she will be so missed by so many.
