It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Andrzej Boguslaw (Andy) Biernacki. Andrzej died May 1, 2021 at the age of 65 in Victoria, B.C. at the Royal Jubilee Hospital from heart complications. Andrzej was born in Elk, Poland on June 4, 1955 to Stanislaw Biernacki and Janina Biernacki (Woroniecka). He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Irena and 3 sons, Richard (Catey), Krzystof (Rebecca) and Andrew (Gina), and 3 grand-daughters (Kaelyn, Mabel, Alayna) as well as a brother Waldemar (Maria) and sister Bozena (Bart Christenson).
In his early years Andrzej was active in sports, particularly in track and field, representing his school and sports club in competitions. He received many awards in 1000 and 1500 metre runs. He attended trade school in Michalowo, Poland and soon after graduation he emigrated to Canada in 1976 where he worked in the construction industry. Through hard work he gained a lot of experience, which later he shared his skills and abilities with others. Andy was always willing to try new things, whether it was changing career paths or simply trying a new recipe for dinner. He was involved in marketing Euro Goods and due to his business acumen, his warmth and sincerity for others, he was very successful. Andrzej enjoyed travelling, camping, cooking and held many social events for his friends and family. His charisma and sense of humor was a great joy to many.
When life would throw him a challenge, he would not take “no” or “I can’t” as an option, he would rise to the challenge and always find a way. His family was the most important thing to him, ensuring they were always put first. Through life’s trials and tribulations, he always seemed to land on top.
The loss of Andy will be felt by many, but knowing he lived such a full life should bring peace to those holding him in their hearts.
The immediate family will Celebrate Andy’s Life, on Saturday May 8th, 2021 in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, with Fr. Alfredo Monacelli officiating. Due to current Public Health restrictions, attendance is by invitation only.
