Mother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend died courageously, comforted by her daughters and family in Victoria, BC on August 15, 2023.  She was born in Portland, Dorset England on February 6, 1944.

Predeceased by her husband David in 2009, she is survived by her daughters Sarah (Colin) Morgan, Victoria Smith and grandchildren Christian, Owen, Julia and Jerran, loving sister Jill (Roger) Court, Alison (Richard) Court, Joanne (Andy) King, nephew and niece Ben and Amy.

Andrea and David married on September 21, 1968 and she became a homemaker. They followed David’s parents and immigrated from England to Canada in 1978, landing in Sidney, BC

David and Andrea shared a love for animals, reptiles and husbandry and raised their daughters amongst that love, sharing it with everyone they knew.

Andrea was the happiest when her two daughters gave her grandchildren.  She never wanted to miss a single detail of their lives and enjoyed every moment she could with them.

In 2006 Andrea suffered a bad heart attack and mini strokes. Once partially recovered, David retired and moved them to Woss, BC to enjoy a quiet remote life however he sadly passed away in 2009.

Andrea spent her remaining days in assisted living in Victoria, staying cheerful, happy and making the best of her life until she succumbed to her health challenges after a brave battle.

Family has decided to not arrange any memorials but will be holding private ceremonies to scatter her ashes in Portland, England and at a special place Andrea and David were last together in Woss, BC.

So sad to hear of Andrea’s passing. She was the niece of my auntie Marie, who was my mother Joyce’s sister. She and her sister Jill used to come to Marie’s most Sundays for tea and then go off to church. I don’t really remember that much about her but she was full of fun. Regards and best wishes to all the family. Shirley (neé) Hammond.
