Alexander “Sandy” McLean Seivewright born October 7, 1926 in Arcola, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on April 2, 2009 in Victoria at the age of 82. Sandy will be lovingly remembered by his sister Doris, his wife of 63 years Marie, his daughter Carol, and his three sons Clark (Laurie, Alexander, Mitchell) Scott (Joanne, Tyler, Shayla) and Richard. Sandy enlisted at the age of 14 (59th Field Battery) and courageously served his country at Juno Beach, Caen and Falaise. He was proud to join his father John (Army), and brothers Stan (Army), John (Army), Geoff (RCAF) and Keith (Navy). Sandy was seriously wounded on December 25, 1944 and spent the last months of the war in several hospitals across Europe. He retired from the army as 2nd Lieutenant in 1953. Sandy was also very proud of his academic achievements. Before he retired from the army he graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada’s Officer Cadet Program and at the age of 44 he returned to school and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at the University of Saskatchewan (1974). Sandy was a quiet man possessing a quick and witty sense of humour. Above all, he will be remembered as a caring husband and father. He will truly be missed.
Celebration of life will be held in McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, on Thursday April 9, 2009 at 1:00 PM. Cremation entrusted to Royal Oak Burial Park.
