Alan Michael Scherr Sept 30/1943- June 7/2008. Taken from us far too soon, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother.
Alan was predeceased by his mother and father, Marianna and Pius, and his brother Dave. Alan is survived by his wife of 25 years Barbara, his daughter Jennifer, sons Jason (Lisa) and Jared (Shauna), and 5 cherished granddaughters Brittany, Hannah, Ashley, Jamie and Courtney. He is also survived by his twin sister Eileen Redchurch (Paul), sisters Rita Kelly (Len), and Marilyn Wickstrom (Harold), brothers Brian (Karen), Lawrence (Mary), and sister-in-law Ev. Alan was a good kind man with a big heart. He touched a lot of people with his boyish charm and teasing manner. His love was always given freely and unconditionally with family being the most important part of his life. He was very competitive by nature and met every challenge with strength, courage, laughter and love. Previous jobs with Chek TV, and CBC (advertising executive) gave him the tools to start his own company. His love of being an independent business owner was evident in his accomplishments, and together with his wife owned and operated a chain of hair salons for over 20 years. When forced to relax, he enjoyed 5 pin bowling, golfing with the “Wack n’ Hackers”, watching the Toronto Blue Jays, and many trips to Las Vegas. Alan’s whole life was a celebration. He lived life to the fullest with his wife, children and granddaughters in tow. Al was a teacher, mentor, advisor, best friend, boss and always a shoulder to lean on. Our life may feel hollow; however he will forever remain in our hearts until we see him again. No good-bye is necessary. Viewing will be at McCall Bros. Funeral Home, Vancouver & Johnson St., Victoria, on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:10 pm, on Friday, June 13, 2008. at St. Patrick’s Parish, 2060 Haultain St., Victoria, The Reverend Father Peter Ho celebrant,
