Born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on April 25, 1914 to Ernest and Annie Palmer. Died in Victoria at RJH on December 13, 2008.
Dorothy attended Calgary Normal School but followed in her father’s footsteps to work for Metropolitan Life. She first worked in Lethbridge, later moved to Victoria to become office supervisor, retiring in 1973 after 37 years with the company.
She met Bill Duncan in 1938 and they married in 1943, celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary last April, always saying that their marriage "was made in heaven."
This past year has been a gift to Bill and to Dorothy’s family as she survived a massive heart attack in November 2007, to the surprise of her many doctors, showing what a fighter she was. Dorothy was the family historian, always able to supply birth dates and recollections of many occasions and places.
She was pre-deceased by both parents and brothers Ernest, Clifford, Bruce and Alfred. She leaves her husband Bill; sister Vera Beischer; brother Roy (Ethel) Palmer; sister-in-law Joyce Palmer; brother and sisters-in-law Audrey and Ken Davies; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, great-grand-nieces and nephews with loving memories of her.
There will be no service at her request. Flowers gratefully declined, but if desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
