Our beloved Carolina passed away from us after a courageous ten year journey with breast cancer. She will be greatly missed by her loving family; husband, Rod; son, Beau; stepsons, Chase and Tanner; parents, Norm and Sandra Glassel; brothers, Erik (Tanya) and Chris (Michelle); nephews, Leif (Jennifer) and Max; niece, Hannah; grandmother, Ella Drinkle; father and mother-in-law, Ted and Louise Frechette and her brother and sister-in-law, Garry and Heather Frechette. She will also be missed by her former work colleagues and by her many, many wonderful friends. Carolina was born in Saskatoon, moved with her family to Regina in 1972 and then again to Victoria in 1980. She graduated from Mount Doug Secondary School and then attended Simon Fraser University Fine Arts Faculty, majoring in dance. After a year at Simon Fraser, she returned to Victoria to earn a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Leisure Studies from the University of Victoria. Her first full time job was managing a flower shop in Vancouver after which she returned to Victoria to join the Provincial Government. Her final position before being forced to leave due to illness was a project manager in the Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance.
A Memorial Service celebrating Carolina’s life will be held at MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Carolina would have wanted donations sent to Operation Eyesight (www.operationeyesight.ca) and Spread the Net (spreadthenet.org).
