PRICE, HUGH JOHN

Korean War Veteran

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father. Hugh passed away peacefully on November 19 in Victoria BC, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on May 9, 1930 in Melfort, Saskatchewan.

Survived by his loving wife Elizabeth – (“53 years Before the Mast” as he would say teasingly); adoring daughters Jane (Eric) Kahler of Ottawa, Bonnie (Tony) Faganello of Victoria; his grandchildren Erin and Bret Kahler, Sonya Faganello; great granddaughter Jaelyn Stromberg; his brother Leighton (Lorraine) Price and sister Phyllis Forcier. He will be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends.

Hugh served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a weapons technician, from 1953-1978, primarily in Victoria BC. This was highlighted by being a part of The Queen’s Coronation in London, England in 1953 and by a deployment to Korea from 1954-1955 in the HMCS Sioux. Afterwards, he joined The Corps of Commissionaires at Rocky Point in Victoria, from 1978-1995. Over the years, he enjoyed operating his CB radio; RC model airplanes; watching professional hockey, flying kites and spending time with family and friends.

Hugh will be lovingly missed for his charm, humour and unwavering dedication as a husband, dad and grandpa and will be remembered always, for the compassion and love he held for his family.

Dad our Hero, we are so very proud to be your daughters.

Hugh, my “SP” you are the love of my life forever and ever.

Special Thanks to the many Doctors and Caregivers through this time of need.

Visitation to be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Friday, November 23 at 11:00am. Service to follow at 11:30am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Parkinson’s Centre, 813 Darwin Ave, Victoria BC, V8X-2X7
