LAWRENCE, Sheila Janet Mary 1922-2007 Sheila passed away peacefully on June 11, 2007, with daughter Jan by her side. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jay) in 2000. Sheila was born in Edmonton and moved to Victoria in 1958. She was the receptionist for Dr. Stark, retiring in the 1970s having met hundreds of patients. For many years Sheila and Jay were active members of the St Mary’s Anglican Church community, and her faith was a tremendous source of comfort. Sheila was a passionate and gifted gardener, an avid reader, and a friend to animals of all types. She was known for her keen wit, generous spirit, and warm friendship. Her creative talents extended to painting, writing, sewing, cooking, and wearing a variety of hats with style and flair. She was dearly loved and will be missed but not forgotten by all who knew her. Heartfelt thanks go to the staff at Victoria General Hospital and to the `angels’ who took such good care of her in her final months. A funeral service will be conducted at St Mary’s Church, 1701 Elgin Street at 11 am Thursday, June 14th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victoria Hospice, the BC SPCA, or Operation Eyesight.
