MCILVENNY Beloved Kathleen (Kay) Alice, passed away peacefully in the Victoria Hospice on September 8, 2004. Born on February 19, 1939, and a lifetime resident of Esquimalt, Kay was predeceased by her loving parents, Millicent and Gerry McIlvenny in the 60’s and 70’s. As a child, Kay was a student of St. Ann’s Academy, where the Sisters of Saint Ann taught her. Over the years she enjoyed Girl Guides, cats and dogs, ceramics, bowling, shuffleboard, bingo and her membership with the Royal Canadian Legion, Esquimalt Branch No. 172. Kay enjoyed working with and retiring from the Federal Government and loved living in Esquimalt. She was well known in the neighbourhood, starting at 1317 Lyall Street, her family home, and later relocating with her parents to 1241 Juno Street to care for her aging grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Higgins. At each of her Esquimalt addresses, Kay gained countless friends. Remembered lovingly by long-time close friends, Maureen, Darlene and special cancer volunteer driver, Allison, who both gave of themselves helping Kay every way they could. A caring friend to Pat for 45 years, they shared much laughter.
With cremation as her wish, Kay’s ashes will be scattered at Saxe Point, remembering and honouring her.
A Memorial Service will be held on at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Friday, September 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please buy someone a cup of coffee in the Plaza neighbourhood and emember Kay with love and laughter. Kay’s cat, Lucky is now purring happily in a new home.
