BAINES- Marjorie Jean (nee Adams) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday June 14, 2004 after a short illness. Marjorie offered her wisdom, friendship, and positive outlook to all who met her. She quietly accepted challenges with dignity and grace, with courage and unwavering faith. Her dedication and unconditional love for her family will always be remembered and cherished.
Marjorie was born in Fort William, Ontario in 1915, attending school there until she completed her studies at Queens University (Class of 1939). She worked at Canada Car in Fort William and married Jack during WW II. Always ensuring a loving and happy home, Marjorie along with Jack, a team in the Banking world, moved their family to many cities across Canada before retiring in Victoria. Active in community affairs and as a committed volunteer with among others, the United Church, Rotary Ann’s, PEO, and University Women’s Groups, she touched the lives of many.
Marjorie will be forever loved and greatly missed by her children Marilyn and Fred (Barbara Ann), grandchildren Shaun (Allie), Ryan, and Marianne (Tobias) and great-grandchildren Casey, Madison, and Jayasri, by Maggie, and by many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1994.
Marjorie’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many people in the community who enriched her life through friendship, support, and caring. To Maggie O’Scalleigh and Jean McLeod especially, along with Dr. Kachan and many committed care staff within the community health team, particularly her home support workers, home care nurses, occupational and physiotherapists and at the end, those of the Victoria Hospice Palliative Response Team, we are particularly grateful.
A memorial service will be held in McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson St @ 1400 Vancouver St, Mon June 21, 2004 at 10:30AM followed by a reception @ McCalls.
