MICHAEL STEWART
Michael died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer
On February 12, 2009. Mike was born on September 12, 1956 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He is survived by his parents Frank and Ellen, his daughter Meghan, sister and brother-in-law Teryl (nee Stewart) and Stewart Leslie, niece Shawna Magee of Calgary Alberta; and sister Linda Taylor (nee Stewart) of Victoria, B.C.
Mike recently moved back to Victoria in February 2008 after living many years in Kamloops BC.
He was a loving father, son, and brother as well as a devoted friend to all that came to know Mike. A natural athlete he had excelled in hockey, curling and golf and expressed his love of sports through his work with Special Olympics Canada.
Mike’s family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Victoria Cancer Clinic, Victoria General and Jubilee Hospitals, with a very special thanks to his family doctor Brock Fraser. Their kindness and support has been deeply appreciated.
A special mention goes to Rick Hitchings of Victoria BC, and Neil Hobech of Surrey BC, devoted friends of Mike for many, many years.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be announced at a later date.
