Rob died peacefully on November 16, 2024 in Victoria, BC. He was born in Vancouver, BC. The family soon moved to Winnipeg where he grew to adulthood.
He is predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Addie, sisters-in-law Barbara and Esther and nephew David. Left to grieve his passing are his wife Anne, daughter Audrey (Ian), brother Grant, brother-in-law Harry, nephew Rob and niece Colleen (John), great nephew Bradley (Jenna), great niece Samantha (Henry) and their daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. He will be missed by many friends and neighbours.
Upon graduation from Ryerson Institute of Technology, he began work as an instrument engineer for Bailey Meter in Manitoba. He met his wife Anne in Pinawa, Manitoba, where she was a teacher and he was monitoring equipment at the AECL Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment.
Returning to Vancouver, he became an Industrial Instrumentation Instructor in the trades apprenticeship program at what is now B.C.I.T., instructing students until retirement.
He now had ample time for extensive travelling and spending his summers at his Gulf Island cottage. Here he will be remembered for his contribution to the community through his involvement with its water distribution system when not out fishing, boating, or monitoring all naval activity on Swanson Channel from his waterfront property.
A Celebration of Rob’s Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation or to an organization meaningful to you.
