We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dearly beloved son Robert Gibson, who passed away in his sleep on Friday, August 16, 2024.  He had survived a stroke two and a half years prior and had returned to work full time earlier this year.  He will leave a big hole in our lives but we look forward to our reunion with him in Heaven.

Robert is survived by his parents David and Laura Gibson and his sisters April Gibson and Rachel Blitterswyk(Eric), and brother Ronald, and his nieces, Adrianna, Raisa, and Erica Blitterswyk and nephew Kevin Blitterswyk.  Also his Uncle Mark and Aunt Cathy Gibson and Aunt Gloria Goetjen and all of his cousins.

Rob was raised  in the Cowichan Valley and graduated from Cowichan Senior Secondary School and pursued a career in Engineering.  He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Victoria.

Robert worked for the BC Ministry of  Environment for two decades, and was well respected for his technical expertise in Air Systems and Data Bases by his fellow team members who created a Memory Book to share with Rob’s family.

Robert loved spending time in the great outdoors; such as hiking in the mountains, camping, and trips to Tofino and Port Renfrew.  He loved travelling to places like Mexico, England, Germany, and USA.  Robert  enjoyed all kinds of music, action movies and romantic comedies.  Robert attended many family reunions over the years, especially the ones at Rathtrevor Beach in Parksville.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 1:30 pm at Hope Lutheran Church, 1924 Carrick Street in Victoria.  A reception will follow in the church Hall.  The Interment will be at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, 2347 Cedar Road on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 2:30 pm.  Pastor Adam Chandler officiating.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory would be appreciated.
