Barbara passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 22, 2024.  Born in London, England on February 12, 1933, she spent her youth in the countryside of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Her dream to travel was fulfilled when in 1953, she boarded an ocean liner to Montreal and then a passenger train to Vancouver.  In 1956, while receiving car service in the West End, Barbara met and soon after married her soul mate Folkert.  As a devoted couple in their 56-year marriage, they raised their family, traveled close to home and abroad, and established their business, Atlas Motors. Oak Bay Jewellers was their last venture prior to retirement.  Barbara took pleasure in competing with the Island Breaststrokers dragon boat team, traveling, gardening, reading, walking her dog Abby, and spending time with family.  She was predeceased by her husband Folkert, daughter Annette, and sisters Peggy and Joan.  Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her children Gregory (Corinne), Vanessa, Michael (Pat), Belinda (Zoltan), grandchildren Jessica, Tasha, Connor, Sabina, Cameron, Carlie, Derek, Alyssa, Nicolas, great grandchildren Jakob, Emma, Peyton, Ella, Levi, brother John (Pat) as well as nieces and nephews.

Agreed … what a lovely photo of Barbara … just as we remember her. We were blessed to have crossed paths with both Foley and Barbara, first at S&H and later at Oak Bay Jewellers, meeting many times in their home. May God comfort the family and bring a smile to your faces, even in your loss as you remember what a gift they were.
