Francesco Ruffolo, a hardworking family man and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born in Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, on March 2, 1939, and spent the last 62 years residing in Victoria, BC, Canada.
Francesco was a man of simple pleasures. He found great joy in working in his garden and savoring all types of food he grew, especially when accompanied by his treasured red wine. Luciano Pavarotti’s music filled his heart, and he often sang along with passion.
Family was everything to Francesco. His home was his favorite place in the world, and he cherished his 59-year marriage to his beloved wife, Anna Maria. Together, they raised three sons, Richard, Bruno, and Roberto, and were blessed with four grandchildren, Olimpia, Francesco, Ava, and Keyano.
Francesco’s 32-year career as an Elevator Mechanic in the IUEC union Local 82 was a source of pride for him. He built his two family homes, a testament to his hard work and dedication.
He had a vibrant personality, always ready to sing and dance, and never afraid to show his emotional side. Francesco loved to laugh and joke around, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he encountered. His favorite quote, “I think I’d like to trade my wife for two 25-year-old women” always brought laughter to those around him.
Francesco’s Roman Catholic faith was an important aspect of his life. He found solace and strength in his spiritual beliefs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Maria, two of his sons, grandchildren, and his siblings Mario and Carmela. Francesco’s legacy will be carried on by his family, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.
Francesco Ruffolo will be deeply missed but remembered with love and admiration by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated from the St. Joseph The Worker Parish, 785 Burnside Road, Victoria, BC, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 10:30 am, with Celebrants Fr. Alfredo Monacelli and Fr. William Hann. Entombment will follow at the Royal Oak Burial Park Mausoleum.

Lily Eng My deepest condolences for the loss of a wonderful, vibrant man. I will remember Frank as one who always had a big smile and love of family and life. May your memories of time together help ease your pain of loss.
My first day in the elevator trade, Frank was my mechanic. We worked together off and on and Frank introduced me to the industry . He could be a tough guy at times. Lots of huffing and puffing with a few Italian curse words thrown in for flair. He could also be pretty damn funny, incredibly knowledgeable in his trade and truly enjoyed a good laugh. The don’t make em like Frank any more. He will be missed.
