It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Opa and friend, Fritz who passed peacefully on April 9th, 2024. For those of you that knew him, he was larger than life and certainly made an impression wherever he went. He had a huge zest for life, always willing to delve into new adventures and experience life to the fullest. His interests were vast including astronomy, boating, birdwatching, history, and politics. He had a huge love for classical music, and was a frequent audience member at the Victoria Symphony. He was also an avid reader, enjoying books of any kind, and he was very passionate about his favourite card game, Rommee.
Fritz was born June 7th, 1938 in Koblenz, Germany where he studied mining and pursued a career with Krupp. His passion and determination resulted in him moving with his family to Sydney, Australia where he accepted a position as CEO of Krupp Industries. Still eager to achieve more, and focussed on furthering his career, he again moved his family to Edmonton, Alberta where he opened up his own businesses and became a successful entrepreneur. He was an intellect, always wanting to further his knowledge and continued educating himself right to the end. Before his 40th birthday, he had already obtained his Dr, Professor and Engineering degrees!
Not only did Fritz achieve wonders in the business aspect of his life, but he was also a medical miracle. There were countless times that doctors felt he would not pull through, yet he always bounced back. He survived three open heart surgeries, chronic kidney disease, and being fully empaled by a fence post. He was conscientious and knowledgeable about every aspect of his health, and this, combined with his strong will allowed him to outlive all expectations.
Our world will have a huge void without our dear Fritz. He was the life of the party, and there was never a dull moment when you were with him. He was blunt and honest, making statements and remarks that always left an impact. He had a wicked sense of humour, that would often present itself when least expected. If you were lucky enough to have known him, you know exactly what I mean.
Besides his many friends, Fritz leaves behind his wife Dora, children Roland (Mariangela), Anette (Terry) and Nicola (Adam), and his grandchildren Kylie, Kayden, Matthias and Gianna.
A special thank you to all the doctors that were involved in his care, especially Dr Lewis and Dr Marsh from Shoreline Medical. He often said he couldn’t keep going without his exceptional nephrologist Dr Horgan, and the incredible team of nurses at the Victoria Community Dialysis Unit that cared for him with such love, respect and patience over the last years. We are forever grateful to you for your heartfelt dedication, and for making his struggles with his illness more tolerable.
A Celebration of Life was held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 2:00 pm. His wish was for a big party, and by then we hope to have the grief and sorrow of his passing behind us, so we can focus solely on the amazing memories.

Peter Trzewik Dear Dora and Family,
Please accept my most sincere condolences and I and our team at the Mercedes-Benz dealership will miss him very much.
He could be blunt and that is how I got to know him many years ago. He was in the Showroom and most salespeople didn’t know what to do with him and he was talking about Mercedes and that the brand was no longer what it once was. I, as a fellow German addressed him in German and realized he was a wonderful person looking for a honest conversation. It took only minutes and he purchased his first Mercedes from us and we had fun with each other ever since. He crossed paths in so many client events and at the Victoria Symphony where you and him became supporters and underwriting sponsors. I’m glad I got to meet and know him and wish there would be more people like him in our life.
If I can ever help, please don’t hesitate to call,
Peter

Brian & Cora We will miss Fritz immensely.
Our sincerest condolences to Dora and the entire family.
We had so many fun times together at the card table watching him mischievously recreate the rules of the game when it suited him.
So many wonderful conversations when all together, and many more on our regular drives.
Fritz had a full and amazing life. He was very fortunate to have the incredible support of Dora and all his family.
His wit and humour will be missed. We will raise a glass of coffee and Baileys to you good friend.
