Our much-loved husband, father and grandfather had a heart attack after returning home from a golf game, and could not be revived. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Irene, their son Bryan in Toronto, their daughter Alayne MacIsaac, son-in-law Jason, and Papa’s pride and joy, granddaughter Cassandra, in Metchosin. He was predeceased by brother Gordon (Lynn) in Texas, and survived by brother Allan (Kari) in Calgary, brother-in-law Allan (Barb) in Victoria, and nieces and nephews.
Keith worked 33 years with the CIBC, living in several British Columbia communities during the early years before coming to work in Victoria in 1975. He was an active member of the CIBC Retirees group.
Keith was very proud of his Scottish ancestry and was an active member of the Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association for over 35 years, eventually becoming Grand Chief of the national association. He also enjoyed Scottish Country Dancing with Irene for many years.
He liked to travel, but not if it interfered with his time at Christina Lake – where his family has had property since 1952. In 1975, Keith and Irene (with help from family and friends) built their own cabin on the property – where everything had to be taken across by boat and then carried up a hill. All construction was done by hand – no power tools. It is a terrific, solidly-built three-bedroom cabin but the building of it led to our little group of workers being called the “Good Enough Construction Company”. Fortunately, Keith could tackle almost anything – carpentry, plumbing, even a solar electric system.
Keith’s many hobbies included genealogy, woodworking, golf, even cross-stitching, but his family and friends were the most important things in his life and he was ready with assistance whenever needed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Saanichton (East Saanich Road and Cultra Avenue) on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:30 pm, with tea to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sons of Scotland Foundation (through Canada Helps.org) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation or other charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Terry McGoldrick We met Keith and Irene through the Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association. Keith was a long time, faithful and loyal member of the organization attending meetings and organizing events all for the benefit of the Sons. He rose to the position of Grand Chief with grace and class, instrumental in the opening of The Sons Foundation which is one of his many legacies. He was a true gentleman and a proud Scotsman. Jim and Ina Masterton We met Keith and Irene through the Sons of Scotland over35 years ago and remained friends until his death. Keith and Irene were stalwarts of SoS for all those years and we enjoyed many SoS meetings with them , always with tea and goodies to follow. Keith loved his Scottish roots and impressed us as a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him. The Scottish diaspora has lost a real champion.
When our family moved to Grand Forks in June of 1948 we lived in a house immediately behind the Feir house and Gordon and Keith were pretty well the first kids we played with. Mr. Feir was my grade 10 math teacher. Later we had a cabin at Christina Lake as did the Feir’s and we visited and swam together many times. Much saddened learning of Keith’s passing.
