Alexander Kirk passed away suddenly on January 23, 2024. Alex was born on March 16, 1991 in Victoria, BC. He was predeceased by his father, Patrick Kirk in 2000. He is survived by his mother, Lynna Schaldemose, brother, Jamie (Paige), nieces Quinn and Harper, Aunt Kara (Trevor), cousins, Isobel and Sebastian, and fiancé, Chelsea Read. He loved his animals, two cats, Dot and Ellie, and Dog, Henry. Alex will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Born in Victoria, the family moved to Whitehorse then Prince George before returning home at the age 9. Moving to the Saanich Peninsula Alex graduated from Stelly’s Secondary, where he was well known for creating an impromptu snow day in his grad year. In his high school days Alex began working for the co-op and continued there while attending the Justice Institute to study criminology. Alex worked for the co-op until 2022, he loved the community aspect of the job, getting to know people and joking around and pulling pranks with and on his co-workers.

In the summer of 2023 Alex began working with VCBC. Alex loved this community and they treated him like family. He loved the ability to help others and make deep connections with people. Alex enjoyed games of all types with his friends. He was involved in multiple weekly Dungeons and Dragons games, often leading his friends through countless adventures as Dungeon Master. Alex also enjoyed video games and was quite gifted, recently winning a Mario Kart Tournament with friends.

Alex was loyal, kind-hearted and the biggest teddy bear. He cared deeply for people in need and always had a soft spot for the underdog. We will miss his sense of humor, big laughs, cheeky jokes and great hugs.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

    Lynna Jamie and family,
My deepest condolences to you all!
What a shock to hear this today from a former coworker at RBC in Duncan; I met you years ago when I worked with your ex. Sorry to hear about him too! Oh gosh my heart goes out to you! This breaks my heart for you, having lost my son 11 months ago, I truly feel for you!
If you ever need to talk to a Mom who’s been through a loss of a young son, I’d be happy to meet with you or chat or email.
    Sincerely Trudy

Such shocking news. I too worked with Alex for years at Co-op. He always stood up for the underdog and did not hesitate to confront what he felt was unjust or wrong. I have so much admiration for this young man who has been taken from us much too soon. My heart goes out to his family and fiancé.

Lynna, Gwenda and my hearts go out to you. What a terrible loss, especially for you who has already suffered so much. I’m not really on Facebook anymore, but I would really like to come to Alex’s celebration of life.

I worked with Alex for a couple of years at Co-op and ran into him frequently downtown Victoria, he was always happy to say hello and catch up on whatever was new between the last time we had happened to bump into each other.
His love of pranking the newbies will always be remembered by all of us who worked with him, especially the salt in someone’s free slurpee straw.
Alex will be deeply missed by so many. My condolences to his Fiancée and family, we will always remember the kind and caring person Alex was.

Dear Lynna and Jamie we were so sorry to hear of Alex’s passing. Your pain must be insurmountable but hopefully in time the life Alex lived and the love and joy he gave you all will help to heal your hearts. We will remember the young boy that came to Jamie’s hockey games and was always smiling. Our thoughts are with you.

Alex was a one of a kind person on world of Warcraft. Never hesitated once to help someone in guild no matter how stupid the request was. He touched so many lives in so many ways. I am terribly sorry for his family and fiances loss. Will be forever remembered

Alex and I worked closely together for a few years at Pen Co-op and I will always remember his love for pranking people (never look down!), his ability to look on the bright side, and the way he would always take care of his co-workers and act in their best interest. He always fought for them and treated them fairly. He managed to book off a week of work for me in secrecy so that my friends could surprise me for my bachelor party! Whatever he could do to help, he did it. The Co-op family will miss you Alex, condolences to your family and friends.

Our hearts are breaking for you Lynna & all your family.
I hope you all find some peace, and family & friends help you through this tragic time.
