It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Lyla Jeane Braz, on December 1, 2023. She was born on September 11, 1951 to Christopher and Veda Thorbergson in Nelson BC. She was the youngest of 4 children. (Anne, Edward (Bud) and Dennis).
Jeane was predeceased by the love of her life, Joe in 2015; parents, Christopher and Veda Thorbergson; big sister, Anne (Mike); brother, Edward (Bud) as well as her brother in law, Carlos and in laws, Antonio and Maria Braz.
She is survived by her children, Philip (Mishelle), Kristina (Ricardo) Steve (Blair); grandchildren, Mateo, Aryana, Cristiano, Nikolas, Matias, Jensen and Alden; brother, Dennis (Joyce); sister in law, Carmen; nieces and nephews, Vicki (Derek), Randy, Shannon, Kristopher, Tianna and many family members and friends.
In Jeane’s early career she worked with children with disabilities at GF Strong in Vancouver. She married the love of her life, Joe, and
started a family. Jeane was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend to all. She dedicated her life to caring and helping family and friends and made countless contributions to many different charities. Her greatest quality was her selflessness. Jeane placed the needs of others before her own, leaving a legacy of compassion and kindness.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 4635 Elk Lake Drive, followed by entombment at Royal Oak Mausoleum.
