Jim passed away peacefully November 5, 2023, while in hospital care. Born March 17, 1925 in Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by his wife of 73 years Betty, son David, 3 brothers and 2 sisters; survived by daughter Kathy (Ernie), brother Don (Jean), sister Joan and sister-in-law Shirley; grandchildren Al (Cheetal), Tanis, Shelley (Dan); great grandchildren Dawson, Tori, Courtenay and Cameron; as well as many nieces and nephews. He worked as an Electrician in Vancouver and Port Alberni, before moving his family to Victoria, where he was a longtime IBEW Local 230 Red Seal Electrician, working 35+ years for Yarrows Shipyard. Jim and Betty enjoyed many years together, camping, hunting, fishing, boating and bird watching. He was a Past President of Victoria Gun Club, past member of Victoria Fish and Game and Rangers Gun Club. In retirement, while living in Courtenay, he started wood carving, creating many amazing birds and mammals for family and friends. Jim enjoyed his last 5 years residing in the Wellesley retirement home here in Victoria, where he received excellent care. His infectious smile and story telling will be greatly missed by all. Family meant everything to him. No service at his request.
