With sadness, we announce that our beloved Greg passed away peacefully at home, his loving family by his side. Preceded by his parents Virginia and Norman Griffin, as well as his brother-in-law, Gary Bosence. He will be so missed by his loving wife Mary Ann, sons Sean (Natalie) and Wade (Alexandria), and his three grandchildren, Zoe, Nathan, and Ella. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Sharron, many treasured nieces and nephews, and their families.
Greg was born in Victoria, BC. He and Mary Ann met at Mount Douglas High School, married in 1969, followed a few years later by the birth of their sons, Sean, and Wade.
Greg was known for many talents, including playing the violin in the junior symphony, as a scout leader, soccer coach, and the renovator of several homes and boats. He especially loved teaching and spending time with his boys, whether it was camping, boating, fishing, skiing, cooking, building, or travelling. In later years, he enjoyed annual fishing trips to Nootka Sound and Bamfield, reeling in many salmon and halibut. Travelling was a great passion, and together with his love, Mary Ann, they trekked to many beautiful and exotic locations around the world, meeting and retaining friendships along the way. The South Pacific was their safe place, spending three months on the Cook Islands each year with friends.
A silversmith by trade, Greg learned from the best, working alongside his father, Norman, and partner, Ted Gardner, at Jeffries & Company Silversmith. Upon Ted’s retirement in 1973, Greg bought out his share of the business. Norman retired in 1984, and Greg and Mary Ann became the sole owners, successfully running the business until retirement.
One of the great ones, Greg had an infectious smile, an upbeat attitude, and the ability to have fun wherever he was and whoever he was with! He loved to cook for his family and friends, trying out beautifully presented and delicious new recipes, always accompanied by a great old world red wine. Greg lived life to the fullest – we raise our glasses to a loving husband, dad, papa, and friend. Forever in our hearts……
A private gathering will take place. In lieu of flowers donations to Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Linda Clarke So very sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. Greg was a regular at the now closed RBC branch at the corner of Fort and Cook Streets. I’m sure I speak for staff during that time when I say that he was a favorite of many. His ready smile and upbeat attitude brightened our days.

Geraldine (Dino) and the late Bruce Hargreaves Greg was one of the most special people in the life of Bruce and I and we will always treasure the times we spent in Raro with Greg and Maryann. So many wonderful, fun filled memories. And I was practicing my golf so much so I could take Bruce’s place and give Greg a run for his money on their next trip to Raro. But I will play a round with Maryann and we will remember him. Fly free Greg. Love forever.

Jamie Day Greg you are a great dad grandfather and a friend to many people you were able to touch base with. The thing I know best about you is your passion for fishing and spending time with the amazing boys you and your wonderful wife were able to raise successfully. Rest in peace Mr Griffin.
