It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Bunny was born in Victoria BC and spent pretty much her entire life here with her family and friends. Predeceased by: Brothers George (Lil), Walter (Arlene) Charlie (Shirley) Sisters Marg (Chuck) Snooky (Reg) Patricia (Bill) Survived by: Husband Joe of 58 years, Daughters Kathy Jenny (Gary) Barbara (Tony); grandchildren Joshua, Logan, Jenna and Macy; sisters Barbara Leslee (Glen); BFF Linda (Rob), as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, Dr. Li (GP) Dr. Walton (GP) Dr. Swigam (Heart) and Dr. Stigant (Kidney) as well as many others that helped her with her health over the years. Bunny was also grateful for the Heart at Home program through St Anthony’s pharmacy where her nurses would come and do daily check ins, she really appreciated the daily visits as this gave her peace of mind. We would also like to thank the first responders.

Bunny grew up in a large family in Victoria and shared many fond memories of her childhood. She was close with her family and especially enjoyed time spent with her brother Charlie getting themselves into all sorts of shenanigans. She had a fabulous sense of humor, a little quirky at times, but loved a good  laugh. She would sit and have tea with her sisters and they would laugh together, and then comment on how awful their laughs sounded which would make them laugh even harder.

Bunny lost her mother at the young age of 12 and always spoke about the love her mother shared with all her children, even though she had plenty to care for, she always took the time for a chat or a hug. Bunny was just like this with her own children. She always liked to hear all about our days and had a hug.  She had one rule; you do not leave the house without a good-bye hug and a kiss. Did not matter how old you were…that was the rule.

Bunny married young at 16 with the permission of her father to Joe. The two got married after a few months of dating on September 17 1965. Bunny was soon to have a child in April of 1966, daughter Kathy. Joe tells stories of Bunny painting the home and doing up loads of the laundry the very day she gave birth. She was a strong woman from the start. Nothing was too big for her to take on. Having had a Longshoreman for a father, she was, what Bunny referred to as “Peterbuilt” strong and built to last. There were two more children to follow, Jenny in January of 1968 and Barbara in July of 1970. Bunny used to joke that back then birth control was taken for two years and then a break…all the girls are two years apart.

Bunny loved to work and had a good time doing it. She would laugh with all the staff and customers too. She had customers who would wait in line at her till just to hear what might come out of her mouth and what she had to say that day. Which would always turn into a good laugh. Bunny had an excellent work ethic and never missed a day work. In fact, she received an award for the best attendance of the company. That night she had a few…or a lot, of cocktails and if anyone remembers, Bunny never ever indulged in cocktails. Well she was so hungover she called in sick for one week. This has been an ongoing joke with her co-workers ever since.

As the girls got older this gave Bunny and Joe a bit of freedom to start traveling and taking Road Trips…Bunny didn’t like to fly as she got so sick…so the driving seemed to be something she could work with in the way of travel. Bunny and Joe travelled through pretty much the entire USA, visiting as many states as they could. They have many fond memories and stories that they would share often.

Now you cannot talk about Bunny without bringing up Elvis. Bunny and her siblings were the biggest Elvis fans you would ever know. I used to swear we must be related to this guy. He was there on every occasion. Growing up we were only allowed to play Elvis at Christmas. Day to day it was Elvis on the record player…you wouldn’t have to worry about changing the record as she would just leave it to start over and over and would enjoy each and every song as if we hadn’t heard it half dozen times that same day.

Bunny was a proud grandmother and loved all her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She would always ask about them and how they were doing what they were up to. She attended many sporting events and was so happy when one of the grandchildren finally played an indoor sport as she would stand in the rain, wind and cold to watch.

Bunny’s will to live and her positive attitude helped her to surpass any of the doctor’s expectations. As one of her specialists put it, she was a legend. Bunny was so proud of this comment. She was a strong and resilient woman…probably the strongest woman we have ever known. She would always say…could be worse.

Bunny will be remembered, loved and missed by many.

I think about you everyday grandma. I miss you and I love you so much gams. I can’t believe it’s already been a year, feels like just yesterday I spoke to you last❤️

This makes me so sad. I worked with Bunny for many years at Beaver Lumber/Home Hardware, and we were buddies. I knew Bunny liked me when she started calling me ‘that crazy old b*tch’…she had very sharp sense of humour, and I loved her for it.
That was a long time ago, but unforgettable.
    R.I.P. dear Bunny.

    Aunty Bunny
Took me a long time to read this, but finally got the courage.
You were my reminder of my dad, you were my closest connection that I held on to. Another part of me died when you passed. Still cannot believe it. You made me feel loved and special, always, even when you told me to piss off! To you, I was your angel that cared for your brother until the end. That meant so much to be appreciated by you, and to know what I did, meant something to you to. I thank you for this.
I know in my heart, that my dad was there for you, albeit mad that you passing, but loving that his best friend is by his side again. I still can’t listen to an Elvis song as it hurts too much and is a reminder of the two most special people in my life. But I know you guys..you’re are all up there, creeping on Elvis like you did years before. I love you, I miss you, but what puts a smile on my face is knowing that you and dad are likely trying to record a better version of “In The Ghetto”…maybe this time without laughing through the recording! But,those laughs just make that recording even more special. I love you. I miss you. ❤️love candyass

I will always remember Bunny as blunt, funny, but oh so loving. May she live on in the memories of those who love her.

And to Joe, the kids, and all the grandkids: may you all find the time to be good and gentle to yourselves.

I can’t believe she’s gone. Gonna miss her and her zingers. Hope Elvis can handle her wit. Not much else to say except, my condolences.

  • Debbie Pearson

As a little kid living next door to the Logan family, I had the privilege of being in their home more times than I can count (probably more often than they wanted). I remember there always being so much laughter and happiness around that kitchen table where Bunny often sat. I remember her sarcastic honesty and wit, which if I’m being honest, scared the crap outta me some times (ha!ha!). I don’t know why, but the one memory that keeps coming to mind was going to The Skillet at Zellers with Kathy – Bunny would bring us fries with gravy. Such a silly memory, but one of many that I can look back on and smile. Kathy, Jen, Barb and Joe….I hope all of your sadness is overshadowed by the wonderful memories your family made together over the years. I know you all have the strength to get through this difficult time…..Bunny made sure of that! Infinite hugs to all of you.

My condolences to the entire family. What a wonderful tribute to a lovely woman. In over 30 years of knowing Kathy, she never spoke of her mom without a laugh and lots of love. Bunny will be dearly missed.

  • Tracy Altman

I loved my days working with Bunny at beaver lumber and home hardware where I really got to know her (but I was no longer allowed to call her Aunty Bunny. Not professional). She was so funny and so sarcastic (but I was used to that, Having a Peterson mom myself). As we all got older I saw her sweet, vulnerable and loving side come out and I always knew she loved me (as I did her) just by the hug she gave me and that moment where she just looked At me smiling. She will be greatly missed. xoxoxo
