It is with great sadness that our family is announcing the passing of our beloved Jose Antonio Corvelo Andrade.
Joe passed away peacefully in his home on June 6th, reuniting him with his mom Maria Da Conceicao Sousa Corvelo Andrade.
Joe was born and raised in Santa Maria, Acores, Portugal, and moved with his family to Canada in 1974. He met his wife Ivana in Winnipeg MB and started a family of his own, moving to Victoria BC in 1999.
Joe aka “Big Guy” was the most hardworking, strong, loving, kind, selfless person you’d ever meet. Joe was fiercely loyal and dedicated to his love of pouring concrete with his brothers and son. It was always about family for Joe. Having a houseful of family and friends brought so much joy to him.
His big heart, contagious smile and laugh will be forever missed. Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years Ivana and Children; Cristina (Jeff) Laura (Shanon), Joe Jr (Meghan) Grandchildren; Julianna, Linden and Aurelia, Father Antonio, brothers; Tony (Debbie), Silvino (Mara), Duarte (Liam), Henry (Anita) sister Ines, In-laws Vittorio & Eugenia, sister in law Bruna (Brian) many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am, on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima, 4635 Elk Lake Drive, Victoria, with entombment following at Royal Oak Mausoleum, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria. Refreshments to follow in the Sequoia Centre, at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dustin Buck This man was a legend in the concrete industry. There’s no doubt in my mind that he was truly better at family life than his work life. My condolences go to the family. Was a honour to work with him and learn from him. Big Guy Rest In Peace.

Ted Hayes The big guy was an inspiration to me and most who knew him long before he had his bad run-ins with health and then anybody who knows him or worked around him knows that nobody else could do what he did and that’s just a simple fact. The big guy was somebody you look forward to seeing at work everyday for that reason he was very positive and knew what was going on at all times and somebody good to have around at work for that reason he will be missed by me and anyone who had the opportunity to work with him daily like myself and will always be an icon in the industry.
