I’ve known Mike since he moved to View Royal in grade 6 and we became close friends shortly after. We shared countless Adventures mostly good some not so much but it always left us with funny stories to reminisce about. He was the kind of guy who would talk to anybody anywhere about anything. I remember getting annoyed by this sometimes as we would have plans to do something but looking back I think that was a pretty cool trait showing genuine interest in total strangers and engaging like he did with them. In the last few years due to his health challenges Mike stayed home alot of the time but that didn’t stop him from making friends. He played online hockey with people all around Canada the US and a few guys from Europe. I posted a notice of his passing on one of the group chats and received over 20 messages of condolences from them, so even with the obstacles he had he still managed to reach out and touch people’s lives around the world. He’s Uncle Mike to my boys and I’m Uncle Austin to his girls and even though there were sometimes gaps in time between talking we always picked up right where we left off as if no time had passed. He was Barney and I was Fred and I’m going to miss you little buddy. Things just won’t be the same without you.

So very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. It’s been a very long time since I thought of Mike and it makes me very sad to read of his passing. He was a thoughtful, kind guy that I liked very much at the time and am heartbroken for his family. I remember him speaking fondly of his sister and his mom. I’m so sorry for all that are/were touched by Mike. Condolences to all. Rest in piece Mike. ….. Trina

My heart sank when I saw the news of Mike’s passing. I knew him as my best friend’s little brother. A kid who had a good sense of humour and looked up to his older sister. I know Mike struggled in the last 10 years or so, and now that he is free of all that. My heart is with your family at this time.

    Sending so much Love, Misha
