With great sadness we announce the passing of João (John) Furtado Carreiro on March 30th, 2023. João was born in São Miguel, Ponta Garca, Azores on December 22nd, 1937 and immigrated to Canada in 1964.
João was a hard-working man, who loved hockey, gardening and proud of his Portuguese culture. He loved to be surrounded by friends and family telling stories and talking about back home.
He is predeceased by his son Daniel and is survived by his wife Alda, son John (Dina), daughter Alda (Mauro), grandchildren Shaun, Tiffany, Amanda, Ricardo, Miguel, Selina, Gabriel and Ronaldo and great grandchildren, Lawson and Landon.
Funeral service will be held on April 5th, 2023 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4635 Elk Lake Drive, Victoria, BC.
Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.

I miss our talks.. I will miss your love of the place you came from the azores Portugal. I remember everytime you spoke. It was your joy of your home town. Spoke about family and true joy you have for them. When I got the news that you had passed, I had this deep discomfort with in my soul. Tears roll down my face uncontrollable like I had lost my friend. Instead realized god just wanted you to go home to be with your siblings. Parents and other family members. I am honoured to have had you in my life, now I will look back to the photos of you. When you would be excited to get your photo taken at a festa.
