It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor on February 21, 2023. Trevor leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years Murcia, his sons Andrew (Michelle), Graeme (predeceased) daughter Katrina (Glen), and grandchildren Jolynn, Abigail and Charlotte.
Trevor was born in Leamington Spa, England on May 17th, 1937 where he graduated from King’s College and Westminster Hospital to begin his career as an orthopedic surgeon. He began his career in England but left in 1966 in pursuit of the great Canadian life first in South Shore, Nova Scotia then Montreal, Quebec then lastly to beautiful Victoria, B.C. where he retired with several other of his medical school mates. Although his career was cut short due to medical reasons he was always remembered by his patients for his sense of humour and no-nonsense approach to medicine. He kept himself busy with blacksmithing and carpentry producing many beautiful pieces of furniture in his workshop.
Trevor was always the life of the party, the loudest Dad on the sideline and more generous than anyone else we knew. Thank you to Saanich Peninsula Long Term Care for looking after him in his years. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to Victoria Hospitals Foundation.

Christine McCreath My husband, Graeme, and I were saddened to hear of Trevor’s passing. We both remember him fondly from our days working as physiotherapists at Victoria General Hospital. He was our favourite orthopaedic surgeon as he was always approachable, willing to give his time and made us feel valued. He was definitely one of a kind.

We will never forget your kindness to us when we came to Victoria in the early 80’s neophytes from Mime 300 on the alaska highway.
We knew nobody and then out of the blue an invitation to a pool and lamb barbecue up on Mount Douglas Cross Road with the addition of the most delicious homegrown raspberries and of course delighted introduction to the Mears.
The barbecue became a regular event and an opportunity to meet with many expat’s you and Murcia as well as your family made us so welcome and the source of so many great memories.
So sorry we lost touch with all of you some years ago we however share a common surname the A in yours for us you always an A guy not to mention my go to orthopedic expert until your untimely retirement.
