Isabelle Helen Zapach (née Mclean) left this earth for her heavenly home on Friday, February 3rd, 2023 in Victoria, BC. Isabelle is survived by her husband George of 58 years, her two children Trevor (Karen) and Theressa (Shane) and her four grandchildren Cayden, Morgan, George and Elanor. She will be missed by many relatives and friends including her two brothers Don (Ruth) and Robert (Nancy).
Isabelle was born in Tees, Alberta, on February 28th, 1937, and moved to Edmonton in 1958 where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Education at the University of Alberta. She married George in 1964 and they raised their two children in Edmonton. Isabelle worked for the Edmonton Public School Board for 29 years before retiring. In 1999 Isabelle and George were able to fulfill a long-time dream of moving to Vancouver Island. Isabelle loved horticulture and gardening and carefully selected each plant and tree for their acreage. Although her immobility and health prevented her from fully realizing her dreams, she provided tremendous support to her family and never gave up hope. Isabelle’s hope was in her Saviour and the promise that when He returns “He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. All these things will be gone forever – Revelations 21:4”.
A Funeral Service and Reception was held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Monday, February 13th, 2023 at 10:00am, with Pastor Ron Michalski officiating. Please click on the image below to watch a recording of the service.
The family wishes to thank the medical specialists and homecare nurses who cared for her over the last several years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spinal Cord Injury, BC at www.sci-bc.ca.
