We are sad to announce Reg’s passing on December 20, 2022. He died peacefully in his sleep in the RGH at the age of 98. He was predeceased by his wife Win after 66 years together and his son Michael. He will be remembered fondly by his children Larry, Cathy (Wayne Cox) and Valerie (Paul Cownden) as well as his 7 grandchildren: Katelyn, Brian, Michael, Leanne, Jennifer, Andrew and Sarah and 5 great grandchildren: Hayden, Gwen, Paisley, Ireland and Briar.
Reg was active in the Victoria community with his involvement for many years in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Superintendent of Oak Bay United Church Sunday school. His favorite pastimes included square-dancing, fishing and playing bridge. He worked for Northwestern Creamery, Silverwood Dairy and Island Farms and developed many friendships at work and among his business clients. It was his passion to help local businesses grow and prosper. After retiring from the dairy business he and his partners purchased Wilson Foods and he developed it from a small grocery supplier to one of the largest on Vancouver Island. He retired from this second career at the age of 90 having made many friends of employees and store owners. Many of their children grew up thinking of him as ‘Uncle Reg’. He will be fondly remembered by those in his men’s coffee group who he met with almost every day until shortly before his passing.
We would like to express our appreciation to Doctor Sundren Govender and the staff at RJH who cared for him until the end. Also, sincere thanks to his caregivers Ermalyn and Jonathan who worked so hard to make him comfortable for the last few years. A special thanks to all his friends who served and played with him at Elements. They went to great lengths to help him enjoy one of his favorite pastimes over the last few years; right up to a week before he passed away.
A celebration of Reg’s life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Friday, January 20th 2023 from 2-4pm.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Nancy and Rick Chan & Lana Young It is with deep regret and sadness to hear of “Uncle” Reg’s passing. As young girls we knew him first as the Island Farm rep at the View Royal Food Market and then later we travelled with him and a group of grocery owners to England, Spain and Thailand when he owned the Wilson’s Group!! Such memorable times! Though we didn’t see Reg often every time we ran into him he would greet us like old friends. Our condolences for your loss but his memory will live on with everyone who knew him.
I started calling on Reg in the early 1990’s when Vancouver Island became part of my sales territory. He always gave sage advice, had a tremendous sense of humour and reached out with the hand of friendship. I did not realise he passed last year. He clearly gave himself to “life” and others, and was deeply involved in so much. I am grateful to have met him, to have worked with him, and all the great Staff at Wilson Foods.
Sincerely,
Valerie Cox, Active Sales & Marketing, Vancouver B.C.
