It is with great sadness we announce Sandra’s passing. Sandra was born and raised in Victoria B.C. and is predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Shaw and brother Richard Shaw. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Miklos (Nick) Farkas; sons David (Kathleen) and Robert (Tanya); five grandchildren (Nick, Selina, Patrick, Megan, and Sara); brother-in-law George Farkas (Edith), and sisters-in-law Magdolna Rempel (Don) and Lesley Shaw. She attended Mt. Newton and Claremont High, and later UVIC and UBC, where she earned a BA in Biology and English, a Laboratory Technician certificate, and a Teaching certificate. She worked as a lab tech in Kamloops, Kitimat, Victoria and London, England. She raised her children and retired in Central Saanich on her grandfather’s farm property. Sandra loved travelling, visiting friends, and exploring the world with her family. She loved to read, water colour paint, bake, sew (mostly adorable dresses for her granddaughters), quilt (with her friends), go on walks at Island View Beach and the Butchart Gardens and admire the lovely gardens and plants on her property.
Sandra was loved by everyone who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
