It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our dear precious mother. She was in her 97th year and is now at home, in heaven.
Our Mom died peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on ECU 2, where she received loving care from the staff. Before being placed in Long Term Care, Donnie was Mom’s main caregiver and he took wonderful care of her, as only a son could!
Predeceased by her husband, Sydney, after over 50 years of marriage, as well as each of her five siblings. She will be lovingly remembered by son Donnie, daughter Judy, granddaughters Zoe (Karl) and Jill (Michael) and great-grandson Nathan, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mom was a kind and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family so well. We thank God for giving us such a wonderful Mom.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre, at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00pm.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dianne and Brian Andiel I remember the Christmas’s that we shared and the gathering of the McDonald clan in Auntie Irene’s and Uncle Syd’s basement. I remember playing charades and one Christmas when Uncle Syd was acting out the song “Don’t fence me in” and he went around digging posts and making a fence! We laughed and laughed! We treasured the getting together of the family. My condolences to both Judy and Donnie.

Nadine Farndon Dear Judy and family, I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom. I remember her well and she was always such a kind woman. I remember she would have to control Judy and I on the amount of Velveeta cheese we would be consuming! I remember she would always pack the most fabulous school lunches in Judy’s case. I am thinking of you during this time of loss and grateful you have each other for support. Take Care, Love Nadine

Joan and John van Schaik Our sincere condolences to the family. I remember having Christmas celebrations at Auntie Irene and Uncle Syd’s house. All my aunts and uncles and cousins gathered in the basement for a huge supper. We all eagerly anticipated dessert, which was Auntie Irene’s delicious trifle. In later years my husband and I enjoyed having Auntie Irene come to our family gatherings. She had such a indomitable spirit, as she still managed our steep driveway well into her eighties. She loved to visit and we loved having her. May she rest in peace as she enjoys her heavenly home.

Dorothy Adam Condolences to the family. I remember Irene from when we worked together in the Cash Office at Eaton’s many years ago. She was a great colleague and fun to be around. Her retirement gift was a framed print of a garden with children. I hope it gave her enjoyment over the years.
Judy and Family sorry to hear the passing of your mom. Thank you that I was able to meet such a precious lady.
