Surrounded by her adoring family, and with her husband holding her hand, Lorraine Alison White (nee Leckie) left us at sunrise on November 15, 2022.

Born in Vancouver May 25, 1957, to Lorne (d. 1982) and Doreen Leckie, and grew up in Lynn Valley.

Survived by the love of her life Brian (married 38 years), son David (Ian), daughters Andrea (John) and Kimberley (Chris), mother Doreen, brother Steven, granddaughters Abigail, Kayley, Erika, Mia, and Isla, and her dog Bailey.

Lorraine was beautiful inside and out. She travelled, shopped, and decorated. She drank wine and ate Italian food. Lorraine loved everyone in her world, and believed any hardship could be helped by a sense of humour. One could not resist smiling when seeing her face. Our hearts hurt without her, but are comforted by remembering the good times together.

We have immense gratitude for the incredible nurses, doctors, and staff at BC Cancer-Victoria, Royal Jubilee Hospital, the VIHA Palliative Care Response Team, and Victoria Hospice.

A Celebration of Life was held in the Sequoia Centre, at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Myeloma Research Group, Victoria Hospice, or the SPCA.

We are both saddened by the loss of amazing Lorraine. I had the privilege of working with Lorraine as a supplier when she had her design business and my wife, Renee, had the privilege of working with her at McBop. Lorraine knew teal was going out of style long before the rest of the world. She was such a pleasure to work with and her positive energy was infectious. We were sorry to not have been able to attend the celebration of life but thank you for sharing it online. Our condolences to the family.

Will miss my beautiful friend, Lorraine, forever. Loved being with her so much when we lived back to back in Coquitlam but whether we lived near or far—it was like we were never apart when we saw each other again. It was a beautiful Celebration of Life—perfect songs and pictures. So sorry we couldn’t be there. Big hugs Brian, David and entire family.

  • Diane and Richard White

We will forever miss our dear Lorraine, there are no words to describe how much we loved her. Lorraine was an amazing daughter, wife, mother and friend. Our hearts and thoughts are with Brian, David, Doreen and family.

Dear Brian and Family: I was so terribly saddened to learn of Lorraine’s passing. She was a beautiful soul with a magnetic smile and personality. Today, you had a very loving and fitting farewell to her. Laura-Lee did a wonderful job for you and I want to commend Abigail and Kayley for their lovely eulogy to their Grandmother. Similarly, I was touched by David’s heartfelt tribute to his Mom.

I still remember with sadness the day Ruth and I ran into you and Lorraine in the Cancer Clinic. Ruth was half-way through her six-year journey and you were just starting yours. I can well imagine how courageous Lorraine was throughout her ordeal. It was her character to be strong and always seek out the sunny side of life – and that theme was very clear today. Your video tribute was simply beautiful.

Every time I walk into the living room and kitchen Lorraine decorated for us many years ago I will think of her with great fondness. We were so fortunate to know her. God Bless her – may she rest in eternal peace. I know her spirit will always be with you.

So very sorry to hear this news. We had the pleasure of knowing Lorraine when she worked as a much valued legal assistant at Staples McDannold Stewart, as it was then. Lorraine was a wonderful engaging intelligent woman, with a rich sense of humour. The ‘Tacky Tourist’ themed summer barbecue she held at her family home was a hilarious and memorable event that will live in our memories. She loved her family immensely and intensely, spoke about you all so affectionately so often, and we send our deepest condolences.

  • Shane and Carmel Gock

In the past few weeks we have spoken often of her kindness, her beautiful smile, her sense of adventure, and her intelligence. She was always so loving towards us and cared immensely for her family. We will miss hearing her joyous laughter and quick jokes. Our thoughts and hearts are with the whole White family during this very hard time.
    Love, Shane and Carmel

I had the privilege of working closely with Lorraine for about 10 years at McConnan Bion OConnor &Peterson. She was a talented and accomplished Para Legal, smart, focused, a true multi tasker able to handle a multitude of complex transactions. Lorraine had amazing people skills; she understood good client relations and in turn, clients loved her. Her sense of humor was always there, we shared a similar vocabulary on occasion, and had a lot of laughs while getting the work done. Lorraine loved people, she was always the life of the firm socials, her taste in wine was flexible….definitely never a wine snob. I deeply regret not seeing her before she passed, and not being able to tell her, face to face, how wonderful she was, and how privileged I was to have known her. RIP Lorraine….
