Dad lived a very full, rich life. His consuming hobby was the great outdoors and his choice of profession wisely made. He graduated in 1964, in the second to last year of the Forestry Engineering program, at UBC. Dad had the distinction of being the only Forestry Engineer to graduate, in Canada, that year. He moved the family from North Vancouver to Quesnel, in 1965, to work for Weldwood. In 1970, he accepted a position with the BC Forest Service, in Victoria; he spent 11 months out of the year, at his best, working on projects in northern BC, until he retired at 65 years.
Dad loved camping, hunting and fishing, as well as flying his plane, in remote areas, all over BC. During the latter part of his life, he made regular trips to the Elk Valley to hunt with his long-time friend, Joe Tress. His last trip was in 2013 at the age of 82.
Dad was a licensed scuba diver and pilot. He was a talented builder. Over the years he built trailers, campers, his Piper Super Cub plane, and 5 family homes. In 1982, he built his dream home on waterfront property in Willis Point. He spent 40 wonderful years there, on his little piece of paradise, enjoying the Willis Point community comradery and friendships. In December, 2021 he had a second heart attack, eventually ended up in LTC, and was never able to return to the place he loved most.
His passion for the outdoors was only outweighed by his passion for dogs, especially German Shepherds. He is predeceased by Mickey, Kyla 1, 2 & 3, DeeBee and DeeBa. Special thanks to his friends Gord and Holly for adopting his final companion, Tika.
Dad leaves behind his daughter Dawn (Paul), son Brent, grandchildren Brandon (Jennifer), Brittany (Riley), Dirk, Marshall (Jayde) and great grandsons, Grayson and Weston.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Paul and Zena Dave was one of the best-known Pointers here at Willis Point. Met him walking DeeBa,then Tika, nearly everyday on Mark Lane with a friendly return wave. He was kind enough to assist us with a “storage problem” of which both that and his friendship will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Dave…

Sharon Pine All of Willis Point miss seeing Dave walking along Mark Lane with his dog. He was a very talented man. I remember being at his house when he was working on his plane in the family room. He used to come by the house when he was landing his plane, it was always fun to watch. May he rest in peace. My thoughts go out to all of his family members.
To the family, my condolences, Dave and I spent 22 yrs together at Willis point, his home and the neighbourhood were two of his most prized possessions. I watched as he built and rebuilt his baby, the “super cub” with such precision and love of his aircraft. His saying, have time to spare- go by air!
He will be missed.
